Q: Why doesn't my DN-951FA/DN-961FA play CD-Extras (cd's with certain type of video or data and programs)?
A: The machine is expecting a music-only CD. Change Preset D6-5 from a "1" to a "0" to let it know to ignore the non-music portions of the disc
Q:
There is a grinding sound when the disc is installed.
What causes this and how can I fix it?
A: If the optical
pickup assembly is in the inner
most position (next to the platter), check the wires to
the "in" switch. Sometimes the wire will break away
from the switch.
Q: The cartridge
does not slide in and out as easily as it used to.
Why?
A: Over a period of
time, a black soft paste-like substance builds up
on the disc holder mechanism. Carefully scrape it away and
the cartridge
should slide smoothly in and out.
Q: When I put a
compact disc in, it does not cue and the number 84 (or
85, 86, 87, 88) appears on the display. What does this
mean?
A: No. 84:
Hardware Error
No. 85: Focus Error
No. 86: CLV Error
No. 87: Subcode Error
No. 88: Seek Error
Any number of things could cause these errors.
A dirty lens could cause a focus error. Worn bearings
can cause the CLV error. A worn feed motor or jammed
gears can cause the seek error. Audio Services 544 Central Drive - Suite 101
